Pinnacle debuts three USB TV tuner devices
Avid Technology today announced that its consumer division, Pinnacle Systems, is entering the market for Mac peripherals with three new USB TV tuner devices: two for the European market and one for the US market. The new portable Pinnacle TV for Mac Sticks are designed to turn any Mac into a full-featured TV receiver/recorder with a remote control. The Pinnacle TV for Mac DVB-T Stick enables European users to watch, "TimeShift," and record digital TV and radio (DVB-T) programs, while the Pinnacle TV for Mac Hybrid Stick delivers the same functionality along with analog TV reception and the ability to act as a video capture device. The Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick offers U.S. users access to ATSC HDTV directly on Mac systems while also supporting standard analog TV. The Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick is due to ship in March in the U.S.
Netgear partners with BitTorent Inc.
The two have formed a collaboration to deliver HD videos, music, Internet radio and digital photos from your home PCs and storage devices to your HDTV. Netgear has announced an ongoing "collaboration and agreement" with BitTorrent Inc. to promote video download streaming to HDTVs via Netgear's new Digital Entertainer HD (EVA8000) media receiver device. The Digital Entertainer HD connects to an HD TV to stream digital media from PCs, network storage, and USB media players. The receiver automatically locates, organizes and plays HD movies, TV shows, music, and pictures. It wail also stream internet-based video, news feeds, weather reports, or radio programs. It supports HD playback of Windows® Media Video 9 or MPEG-4 file formats at up to 1080p resolution on your HDTV.
TV One Releases Three HDMI Switchers With Flexible Control
The 1T-HDMI-821 has two inputs, the 1T-HDMI-841 has four inputs and the 1T-HDMI-881 has eight inputs. All three are certified compliant by the HDMI Authorized Test Centre and HDCP and RoHS Compliant. The Switchers can be controlled via the front panel push buttons, IR or RS-232 interface. An IR Remote Control unit is included. An Optional IR Extender is available which allows the IR Receiver to be up to 50 feet from the unit. HDTV Resolutions of 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p are supported as well as standard definition 480i. They will operate as desktop units. Alternatively, the 1T-HDMI-821 and 1T-HDMI-841 can be mounted in a remote location using optional special mounting hardware and the 1T-HDMI-881 may be mounted in a standard 19" rack using rack mounting hardware that is supplied with the unit.
