Black Mac mini rip-off gets an outing

IT-REVIEW took a look into the wonderful world of Lego. The latest product Mindstorm, is guaranteed to give you hours of fun. Bear in mind that this is serious robotic kit, although if you give it to your kid, don't be surprised if one day a robot brings you breakfast in bed.

PC Perspective reviewed an HDTV tuner called OnAir GT. The tuner still has only 32-bit operating system support, but OnAir claims that v3.0.0.0. of the driver and TV tuner application v3.01 will support 64-bit operating systems as well.

Bjorn3D tested AVB USB 2.0 Mobile 4GB Drive and came to an interesting conclusion.

Hardware.Info ran a budget system guide article. Regardless of all the marchitecture wars between Intel and AMD, the sad truth is that Intel is still producing too many NetBurst CPUs (yep, Conroe/Merom/WoodCrest are just a little part of the current production mix) and that AMD just has better performing parts than most of Intel's production.

Three More Reasons Why Apple Needs Miglia

Carl Howe (Blackfriars Communications) submits: I speculated a few days ago that Apple (AAPL) may buy Miglia to add DVR capabilities to its Apple TV set-top box. Yes, the Miglia TVMini HD+ makes a killer add-on to the Apple TV, but today, I realized that there are three more reasons why Apple should be buying the company, or at least reselling their TVMini product:

1. Today's Register Hardware article entitled Apple to revamp iMac as HD TV? reminded me that since the Miglia TVMini HD+ is a USB 2.0 device, it would be the perfect device to add HDTV to any iMac and turn it into the best small HDTV on the market. Not only would current flat-panel iMacs make wonderful high-resolution TVs to hang on your wall or put in your office, but they'd provide the perfect whole-house DVR solution, since any computer in the house could stream the recorded HDTV shows using iTunes.

More CeBIT Newsbytes...

Theo reports that all retail R600 based AMD (ATI) video cards will have a 65nm GPU - if this is confirmed, it will give AMD a lead in power consumption and probably clock speeds until Nvidia also goes to a smaller geometry.

Zalman, not content to live with just cooling products, have launched a line of 3D monitors. Personally I'd love to see one, however I am very skeptical of the claim of 3D HDTV content - I am not aware of any such movies being filmed or being pressed.

MSI was apparently making AMD/ATI and Nvidia equally unhappy by displaying products based on chips that are not officially released yet - they showed RV610, RV630, G84M, G86M, 8600GT and 8500GT based video cards. I wonder if this was done on a nudge-nudge bases...if so other vendor's won't be pleased.
